Hathersage Stepping Stones Walk

3.6 miles (5.8 km)

This circular walk visits the Stepping Stones over the River Derwent, just to the south west of Hathersage.
The stepping stones provide an attractive crossing point over the River Derwent in the beautiful Peak District countryside. Set within the Upper Derwent Valley, the area is surrounded by open moorland, wooded slopes and dramatic gritstone edges, creating a peaceful setting for a short countryside walk.
The River Derwent is one of the defining features of the landscape here, flowing through a series of reservoirs and valleys before eventually reaching the River Derwent further south.... The surrounding countryside is rich in wildlife, with dippers and grey wagtails often seen along the river, while the nearby fields and woodland provide habitats for a variety of birds and other wildlife.
