Llangoed Historical Puffin Circular Walk

7 miles (11.3 km)

This circular walk on Anglesey visits Penmon Point and the Trwyn Du Lighthouse where you can enjoy some fine views out to Puffin Island.
The route starts and finishes in the village of Llangoed and additionally visits St Cawrdaf Church and the ancient fortress of Castell Aberlleiniog.
From Llangoed the walk follows a mix of quiet lanes, woodland paths and open farmland before reaching the coast at Penmon. The lighthouse stands on a rocky headland with wide views across the Menai Strait towards the Great Orme, with Puffin Island lying just offshore.... The coastal section is often good for seabirds, with cormorants, gulls and occasionally seals visible around the rocks.
Castell Aberlleiniog, a Norman motte-and-bailey castle set in sheltered woodland, provides a contrasting inland highlight, with elevated views across the surrounding countryside before the route returns to Llangoed.
You can continue your historical walking by visiting the nearby Beaumaris Castle.
