Warwick Racecourse Walk
1.7 miles (2.7 km)A walk around the public footpaths on Warwick Racecourse follows a broad, level circuit around the infield and outer edge of the course, giving an unusual perspective on a site that has hosted racing since the 1700s.
The paths run close to the rail in places, allowing clear views across the full sweep of the track and the grandstand buildings, which form a striking backdrop at the eastern side of the course.
As you continue, the route opens out onto wide grassland with long views towards Warwick Castle and the church towers in the centre of town.... The racecourse sits in a natural bowl, so the surrounding landscape rises gently around you, giving a good sense of the historic setting. These outer sections feel quiet and spacious, with skylarks often heard above the open ground and occasional birds of prey circling over the fields.
The footpaths also lead through small patches of rough grassland and tree-lined edges where you may see rabbits, songbirds and seasonal wildflowers. With easy terrain and uninterrupted views across one of the country’s oldest racecourses, the walk offers an interesting combination of open scenery, local history and a close-up look at a venue that has shaped Warwick’s sporting life for centuries.
