Barnt Green Waterways Circular Walk

5 miles (8 km)

This circular walk follows waterside paths along the canals and lakes surrounding the Worcestershire village of Barnt Green.
The route follows a scenic section of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, a peaceful waterway lined with towpaths, narrowboats and occasional glimpses of wildlife along the banks. Beyond the canal, the walk circles the Bittell Reservoirs, whose calm waters attract waterfowl and reflect the surrounding woodland and open sky.... From here, the path continues along a mixture of wooded trails and open farmland, where field edges and hedgerows frame wide views across the countryside.
The route then passes through the village of Barnt Green, a welcoming stop with shops and places to rest before rejoining the rural paths that wind gently away from the village. These lead through meadows and shaded tree-lined lanes, gradually climbing to higher ground. At the top of these steady ascents, the landscape opens out to reveal extensive views across the rolling Worcestershire countryside, offering a fine sense of space and reward before the trail descends once more towards the starting point.
