Camasunary Walk

6.2 miles (10 km)

This walk explores the remote Camasunary Bay on the Isle of Skye, a beautiful spot on the island’s rugged southern coast. The route starts near Kirkibost at the car park at the end of the public road south of Broadford, following a well-worn track that heads west across open moorland.... The path climbs gently between the slopes of Beinn Leacach and Beinn Bhuidhe, giving wide views over the Cuillin mountains and the Sound of Sleat.
As you continue, the trail descends towards the coast with the scenery opening out dramatically to reveal Camasunary Bay below. The bay is known for its white-sand beach, turquoise waters, and the small bothy that provides shelter for walkers. From here you can enjoy fine views across Loch Scavaig towards the jagged peaks of the Cuillin ridge, one of the most spectacular mountain backdrops in Scotland.
After exploring the bay and its surroundings, the route returns along the same path, allowing you to appreciate the changing light over the mountains and moorland. The area is peaceful and remote, home to seabirds and occasional red deer, and offers a true sense of isolation typical of Skye’s wilder landscapes.
You can continue your walking by heading west to visit Loch Coruisk.
