East Runton to Cromer Walk

This walk takes you from East Runton to Cromer on the Norfolk Coast. The route starts from the car park at East Runton Gap and heads east for about 1.4 miles.
Following this short but visually striking section of the Norfolk Coast Path, the trail offers two distinct experiences depending on the tide.... At low tide, the wide, sandy beach is exposed, revealing rock pools and the remains of the Cromer Forest Bed, a geological treasure trove where prehistoric fossils are occasionally discovered. If you prefer to walk along the clifftops, the elevated path provides sweeping views across the North Sea and towards the iconic Cromer Pier. This area is a significant part of the Deep History Coast, where the rugged clay cliffs tell a story of a landscape once home to mammoths and early humans.
As you approach the popular Victorian resort of Cromer, the skyline is dominated by the flint tower of the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, the tallest in Norfolk. The walk concludes with a descent into the town, famous for its traditional crab fishing industry and its end-of-pier theatre. Along the way, keep an eye out for local wildlife; the cliffs provide nesting sites for sand martins in the spring, while grey seals are often spotted bobbing in the surf just offshore.
