St Audries Bay Waterfall Walk

2.7 miles (4.3 km)

This Quantocks coastal walk takes you along the England coast path from Watchet to the St Audries Bay Waterfall. It's just under 3 miles, heading east along the fairly flat coastal path to Doniford before finishing at the bay.
The route explores a fascinating stretch of the Somerset coast, passing beneath the wooded slopes of the Quantock Hills National Landscape and offering wide views across the Bristol Channel towards South Wales.... Leaving Watchet, walkers can enjoy views of the historic harbour, the marina and the colourful cliffs which form part of the famous West Somerset coastline.
The path passes through Doniford, where the Doniford Stream reaches the sea, before continuing east towards St Audries Bay. This section of coast is known for its striking geology, with layers of red sandstone and mudstone exposed in the cliffs and along the foreshore. At low tide, the beach reveals extensive rock platforms and fossils can occasionally be found amongst the coastal exposures.
The highlight of the walk is St Audries Bay Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in England to fall directly onto a beach. Here St Audries Stream cascades over the cliffs onto the shore below, creating one of the most photographed natural landmarks on the Somerset coast. The bay also provides excellent views west towards Watchet and east towards the coast around Kilve and Bridgwater Bay, making this a rewarding walk for anyone interested in coastal scenery, geology and local history.
