There is a lovely country lane on the northern side of the lake where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll with fine views across the water. The lake is great for bird spotting with visitors including whooper swan, golden plover, teal, shoveler, wigeon, mallard, pochard, goldeneye, lapwing and curlew.
You can continue your walking around Strokestown by picking up the Doughill Forest Trail, to the south of the town.
