Westport Lake
Enjoy an easy circular walk around this pretty lake in Stoke-on-Trent.
There is a good footpath running for about 1 mile around the lake. It's a great area for wildlife watching with tufted duck, kingfisher and great crested grebes to look out for around the lake and conservation area. It's a lovely area with attractive woodland around the pretty lake and a nice relaxed feel to the place. The lake also has good facilities with a cafe, visitor centre, free car park and picnic tables.
Cyclists can easily reach the lake by following National Cycle Route 5 from Kidsgrove or Stoke on Trent.
If you would like to extend your walk then you can pick up the Trent and Mersey Canal which runs just to the east of the lake.

There's a great on site cafe located right next to the lake so you can enjoy some refreshments with a fine view over the water.

The lakeside path is ideal for a dog walk. It's a popular place for dog walkers so you're bound to see other owners on your visit.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
The lake is located just to the east of the attractive town of Newcastle Under Lyme where you'll find a number of lovely parks and gardens with trails along the Lyme Brook. The splendid university campus at Keele and the popular Apedale Country Park are also located near the town.
Just to the east of Stoke there's some nice trails around Park Hall Country Park. The former quarry site is now notable as Stoke on Trent's only National Nature Reserve comprising woodland, heathland and ponds.
