Wirral Country Park

Enjoy fabulous views of the Wirral Peninsula in this delightful coastal country park. The park is the first designated country park in Britain, opening in 1973.... You can climb the 60 feet high, boulder-clay cliffs where there are splendid views of the Dee Estuary. There are excellent facilities with Picnic Areas, Visitor Centre, Shop, Information staff, Cafe, BBQ area and a Bird Hide. The Wirral Way walking and cycling trail also runs through the park. You can follow the trail to the lovely village of Parkgate where there are great views across the marshes of the Dee Estuary and large variety of wildfowl and waders to look out for.
Neston with its splendid botanical gardens is also located in this area.
Our Thurstaston Common and Coast Walk passes through the park. You can pick up the trail and head to the common where there's nice woodland trails, pretty heather and a fine viewpoint on Thurstaston Hill. Near here there's also the lovely Heswall Dales, a pretty area of heathland just west of the town of Heswall.

The Burton Marshes Greenway starts just south of Neston train station. The shared cycling and walking trail will take you south through the RSPB's Burton Mere Wetlands where you can look out for a wide variety of birdlife on the River Dee Estuary.
