Astley Park
This pretty park in Chorley has walking paths and a cycle track to enjoy. Features in the park include the River Chor, woodland, gardens and a beautiful lake. The focal point of the park is Astley Hall, a grade I listed Jacobean house. There is also a walled garden, art gallery and a new cafe. The park is ideal for a pleasant short stroll or a safe family cycle ride.
Astley park is located just a short distance from Chorley train station and the centre of town.
To extend your walking in Chorley head south and visit Yarrow Valley Country Park and Duxbury Woods. There's nice woodland trails along the River Yarrow to enjoy here.

In the park you'll find the Café Ambio located in the old coach house of Astley Hall. There's a good range of meals and snacks and an outdoor seating area for finer days.
Dog Walking
The park has lots of trails which are ideal for dog walking so you'll probably see other owners on a fine day.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
The Chorley Circular Walk explores the area around Chorley on public footpaths. It visits the park and also the canal and the nearby Yarrow Valley country park.
Similarly there's also the Chorley Loop Cycle Route for cyclists. This takes you close to Cuerden Valley Park where there are some fine off road trails to try.
Head a few miles north west to Leyland and you can enjoy similar walking trails around the expansive Worden Park. The site includes woodlands, a duck pond, a folly, a water cascade, a mininiture railway, a popular mazae, an 18th Century domed icehouse and waterside trails along the Shaw Brook which runs through the park.
