Alwinton, Copper Snout and Clennell Street Circular Walk

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This circular walk explores a lovely part of Upper Coquetdale near Alwinton in the Northumberland National Park.
You can start the walk from the car park at Alwinton and follow footpaths north west towards the river and its pretty waterfalls. The walk then takes you to Copper Snout before picking up the Clennell Street trail. The elevated path climbs to over 450 metres providing some stunning views over the surrounding Cheviot Hills.
The eastern part of the route skirts the edge of the expansive Kidland Forest. The forest has miles of walking and cycling trails to try. You'll also pass along a section of the Border County Ride, a shared cycling and walking trail running along Clennell Street.

Looking across the valley of the Alwin from Clennell Street. The lowest summit on the right is Camp Knowe, crowned by a hill fort. Then comes Clennell Hill whilst the highest summit is Silverton Hill. To the left of the ridge is the valley of the Rookland Sike.
