Falls Of Acharn Walk
This walk visits the delightful Falls of Acharn in the village of Acharn in Perthshire.
You can follow a footpath south from the village to reach the photogenic falls. Here you can view the falls and the impressive ravine through a Victorian 'Hermit's Cave'. On the way you can enjoy some fine views across the fields to Ben Lawers. The area also includes pretty heather and an ancient stone circle with views to the Cairngorms beyond Loch Tay. Look out for wildlife including buzzards and other woodland birds as you make your way along the paths.
The village sits on the southern side of Loch Tay where you can enjoy more fine waterside walks and cycle rides. You can also pick up the Aberfeldy to Kenmore Riverside Walk just to the east at nearby Kenmore.

View from the grotto, Falls of Acharn. To enhance the viewing experience of the largest waterfall, the 3rd Earl of Breadalbane had the ‘hermits cave’ build in the 1760s, so that visitors could emerge from the dark to the stunning view of the waterfall.
Upper Falls of Acharn. William Wordsworth is known to have visited the falls in 1803 with his sister Dorothy, who noted in her diary the "very beautiful prospect" available of Loch Tay from the falls.
