The Goring Gap is a particularly scenic section of the River Thames with some wonderful views across the Chiltern Hills and Berkshire Downs. Just south of Goring there's also the Hartslock Nature Reserve where you'll find some lovely riverside woodland with lots of wildlife and a variety of wild orchids to see.
The walk starts and finishes from Goring & Streatley Train Station and runs for 4 miles following local footpaths and quiet country lanes.

The River Thames below Hartslock Wood

The Goring Gap is a geographical feature where the River Thames cuts through a line of chalk hills, creating a narrow passage between the Chiltern Hills and the Berkshire Downs.

Thames Path in Hartslock Wood. The path runs close to, but above, the river having been away from the river for a while. The bank is steep here, and substantial timbers have been put in place to prevent landslips obscuring the path.
