Minninglow Hill Circular Walk
This walk climbs to Minninglow Hill in the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park.
The hill summit stands at a height of 372 m (1,220 ft) and includes a number of ancient features.
As you ascend the gentle slopes, you are rewarded with expansive views over undulating limestone dales and rolling fields that epitomize the natural beauty of the region. At the summit, a clump of mature trees surrounds a striking archaeological ensemble—a Neolithic chambered tomb, reputedly the largest in Derbyshire, accompanied by two Bronze Age bowl barrows. These ancient monuments, set against a backdrop of clear blue skies and rugged terrain, provide a powerful sense of timelessness and invite quiet reflection on the legacy of the early inhabitants of the area.
The High Peak Trail runs just past the hill so you can continue your outing on this shared walking and cycling path.

The calcareous soils support a vibrant array of wildflowers and native grasses that burst into color during the spring and summer months, including delicate orchids and primroses that attract a lively assortment of butterflies and bees. This diverse flora, in turn, creates a haven for local wildlife, from small mammals that dart among the tussocks to a variety of bird species that thrive in the open, sunlit landscape. The blend of historical intrigue and ecological richness makes the walk not only a journey through millennia but also an immersive experience in the unique natural tapestry of the White Peak.
