This local nature reserve in Warrington has some pleasant trails along the River Mersey.
The reserve is located on the eastern side of the town and includes meadow grassland, wildflower meadows, an orchard area and grazing cattle in the summer months. You can look out for a varierty of wildlife including skylark, fieldfares and redwings.
The site is located on the Mersey Way so its easy to continue your walk along the riverside path if you have time. You could follow the trail east to visit the nearby the Rixton Clay Pits reserve.
Just to the north there's more pleasant trails and wildlife at Risley Moss in Birchwood.
