Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This walk takes you along the River Eden in Cupar, Fife.
You can start the walk from Haugh Park next to Victoria Bridge. Haugh Park is a delightful green space in the heart of Cupar, featuring open grassy areas, mature trees, and seasonal flower displays. It’s a popular spot for picnics and offers a peaceful setting to enjoy the outdoors. The River Eden flows gently along the park’s edge, providing a tranquil atmosphere and a chance to spot waterfowl such as mallards, herons, and occasionally kingfishers darting along the riverbanks. The park is also home to some interesting tree species, with oaks, beeches, and chestnuts providing shade and colour throughout the year.
The trail then heads east through the park and along the riverside path towards the Eden Valley Business Park. This section of the walk takes you past quiet meadows and areas of wetland vegetation that attract a variety of wildlife. You may encounter rabbits, squirrels, and even deer in the more secluded stretches of the path. In spring and summer, the riverside bursts into life with wildflowers such as cow parsley and buttercups, which add to the vibrant scenery. The path also provides lovely views of the River Eden as it meanders through the countryside, with its calm waters reflecting the surrounding trees and sky.
