Rosslare Harbour Cliff Walk

2.5 miles (4 km)

Open Streetmap This walk follows the Rosslare Harbour Cliff Walk along a lovely stretch of Wexford coast.
Start the walk at the car park in the village and then head south east along the cliff top path to Greenore Point where you'll find a fine beach.
As you follow the cliff path, you’ll enjoy stunning views over the Irish Sea, with the coastline stretching away in both directions. On clear days, you might even spot the faint outline of the Welsh coast in the distance.
The walk provides excellent opportunities for birdwatching, with seabirds like kittiwakes, fulmars, and herring gulls nesting in the cliffside crevices. You might also see cormorants and gannets diving for fish just offshore. During migration periods, the area can be visited by rarer species, adding an extra treat for bird enthusiasts. Occasionally, grey seals can be spotted resting on rocky outcrops below or swimming close to the shore.
As you approach Greenore Point, the path descends gently to a secluded beach with soft sands and fascinating rock formations. This spot is ideal for exploring tidal pools, where crabs, anemones, and small fish are frequently found. The beach is a perfect place to rest and take in the peaceful atmosphere, with the sound of waves lapping against the shore.
This part of Wexford is rich in maritime history, and the harbour itself is a bustling gateway to Ireland, with ferries heading to and from Wales. The coastal path provides a quiet retreat from the activity, offering a chance to immerse yourself in nature while soaking up the dramatic scenery of this beautiful stretch of the Irish coast.
