Charlton Memorial Fountain, Saltwell Park. A late 19th Century drinking fountain to the north-west of Saltwell Towers mansion. It is inscribed: "GEORGE CHARLTON ESQ JP Mayor of Gateshead 1874 and 1875 in recognition of his labours in the cause of social reform". The photograph shows the north side of Saltwell Towers 1581133 which features a 3-storey entrance tower with crenellated parapet and a high polygonal stair-turret capped by a circular pyramidal roof and decorative weather-vane that wouldn't be out of place in Disneyland
Stable Block. Built around 1871 in a similar style to the mansion. Red brick with white brick quoins and dressings and polychrome frieze. Hipped slate roof (a roof having sloping ends as well as sloping sides) with 2 gabled dormers, central spire, and a shelter for a bell on the west (left) side. There is a central segmental arched doorway with carriage doors on its right. The building has been restored and is now used as an education area by schools, colleges and community groups.
The Dene. A landscaped wooded valley with several bridges and attractive waterfalls with this bright green lily pond at the bottom.
'The Language Stone'. Sculpture in white marble by Gordon Young (b. 1952, Carlisle). The stone was originally from Italy but laid on the seabed off Plymouth for 150 years after shipwreck. The text on the stone in several languages express the feeling of love. The piece was commissioned in 2006 for the Gateshead Sculpture Festival.
