Thrupp Canal Walk
A nice circular walk along the Oxford Canal around the settlements of Thrupp and Shipton-on-Cherwell, just north of Oxford. It's an attractive area with nice views of the Oxfordshire countryside and the River Cherwell.
The walk starts from the village of Shipton-on-Cherwell and heads south along the towpath to Thrupp Bridge. The route then leaves the canal to follow a footpath along the river to Hampton Poyle. Other paths then take you back through the countryside to Hampton Gay before returning to Thrupp.
Just south of Thrupp you can enjoy refreshments at the Jolly Boatman Pub (OX5 1JU). There's nice outdoor seating right next to the canal and a good range of beers to choose from.
