West Quantoxhead Deer Park Woods and Beacon Hill Walk
This circular walk explores the woodland and countryside to the east of the village of West Quantoxhead in the Quantocks.
The varied trail starts from the car park on the A39 near West Quantockhead. It meanders through the peaceful Deer Park woodland before ascending across heather moorland up West Hill and onto the 310 metre high Beacon Hill. From these peaks, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Quantock Hills, the surrounding countryside, and the Bristol Channel.
The route then descends southeast towards Bicknoller Post before turning west. It follows the Weacombe Combe down to the Staple Plantation woodland, and then continues through Vinny Combe, past a disused quarry, back to the car park. You'll find a pub there for post-walk refreshments.
To extend the walk head south to pick up the Crowcombe Circular Walk and explore the Brendon Hills.
