Dumfries to Gretna
Travel along National Cycle Route 7 from Dumfries to Gretna and enjoy splendid views of the Solway Firth.
You start on the River Nith in Dumfries and follow the river to Caerlaverock where you can see the impressive 13th century Caerlaverock Castle. The route then heads east along the Solway Firth to Powfoot where there are some lovely waterside views. You continue to Annan where you can enjoy a run along the River Annan before heading into the countryside towards Gretna Green, where you finish at the train station.
The new Kirkpatrick C2C also passes through Dumfries. The epic Coast to Coast route runs across the south of Scotland from Stranraer to Eyemouth.

The Caledonian Cycleway starts in Dumfries. The waymarked route runs to Beattock near Moffat. It passes through the expansive Ae Forest where you will find miles of cycle paths and mountain bike trails.
