Machars Cycle Route
23 miles (37 km)
This circular cycle route explores the Machars peninsula in Galloway in the south-west of Scotland.
You can follow a series of quiet country lanes and minor roads around the peninsula. Along the way there are some splendid coastal stretches and several historic towns and villages.
The route starts in the town of Whitorn and heads south to the Isle Of Whithorn where you can visit the ancient ruined chapel and enjoy some wonderful coastal views.
You then head north west to Port William where the trail passes the White Loch of Myrtoe. Minor roads then head south east to return you to Whithorn.
At the northern end of the trail the route links up with National Cycle Route 73.
