National Cycle Route 137 - Aveley to North Stifford along the River Mardyke Way

National Cycle Route 137 is a signed, fully traffic-free trail that runs alongside the River Mar Dyke, stretching from southern Aveley to North Stifford.
Beginning near Ship Lane, the path provides a safe crossing over both the M25 and A13. It passes through the scenic Davy Down Riverside Park before reaching its endpoint at the B186, just outside North Stifford. From here, it links with local cycling routes that extend towards Chafford Hundred and the edges of Grays Chalk Quarry Nature Reserve.
The pleasant trail is also suitable for walkers. It links with National Cycle Route 13 just south of Aveley. You can also visit Belhus Woods Country Park by following a cycle path north from the trail.
