Boggart Hole Clough Walks and Cycling
This route visits the attractive Boggart Hole Clough park in Manchester.
In the park there's some nice footpaths to follow along the Boggart Hole Clough Brook and around a pretty lake. There's good facilites too with a car park, visitor centre, sports facilities, boating lake and cafe.
The park covers around 190 acres and includes ancient woodland, with picturesque cloughs varying from steep ravines to sloping gullies. It's good for wildlife too with birds including heron, ducks and moorhen to look out for on the walk.
Cyclists can enjoy the area with good surfaced paths and bike hire available from the on site Simply Cycling.
The site is located just north of Manchester city centre in Blackley.
It's easy to extend your exercise in the area by heading a couple of miles north to visit Alkrington Woods where you can pick up the Rochdale Way. The expansive Heaton Park is also located nearby.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas
Just a couple of miles to the south there's Clayton Vale to visit. Here you'll find some excellent mountain bike trails and the Medlock Valley Way walk.
The Manchester Cycleway can be picked up just to the west of the park. The popular cycle trail will take you to some of the local highlights, starting in Chorlton and finishing at the nearby velodrome.
