Walks Around Hampsthwaite
This North Yorkshire based village is located in a pleasant spot on the River Nidd near Birstwith.
It's an attractive place with historic stone buildings, a village green an nice views of the river from the old Hampsthwaite bridge.
This walk from the village takes you to one of the area highlights at the nearby Ripley Castle. You can reach the site by following a section of the Nidderdale Way north east for a distance of about 2 miles. The historic house dates back to the 14th century and includes lovely grounds with an ornamental lake and lots of wildlife to see.
