Newton St Loe Walks
This delightful village near Bath is a fine place for a stroll with thatched cottages, a historic landscaped park and a pretty village green.
This circular walk from the village visits Newton Park before climbing to Stantonbury Hill to the west. The grounds of the college are a lovely place for a walk with landscaped gardens and picturesque lakes to see.
The walk starts in the village and follows footpaths south west to Newton Park and the College. The Park is an 18th-century landscaped garden, designed by the famous landscape gardener Capability Brown. The western side of the site includes Corston Brook where there are a series of prettty weirs. You'll also pass the Grade II listed Newton Park House which was built in 1762.
The route continues to the neighbouring village of Stanton Prior before turning north west to climb to Stantonbury Hill where there is an iron age hillfort. You then descend the hill and follow country lane and other trails east, passing along the other side of the park. There's nice views of the park's lakes as you return to Newton St Loe.

Pubs/Cafes
The Globe is a historic pub of some note, dating all the way back to the 17th century. They do great food and have beautiful gardens to sit out in on warmer days. You can find them at Pennyquick with a postcode of BA2 9BB ffor your sat navs.
Dog Walking
The parkland and woodland are a nice place for a dog walk and the Globe mentioned above is also dog friendly.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
Just to the north of the village you can pick up the River Avon Trail and head into Bath. Here you can try the popular Bath Canal Walk and Bath Skyline Walk.
The Bristol and Bath Railway Path also runs just north of the village. The shared cycling and walking trail is a good way to explore the surrounding area on foot.
A couple of miles to the north there's the little village of Kelston where you can pick up the Kelston Roundhill Walk. This popular circular walk takes you up to an ancient barrow where there are wonderful views to the Wiltshire Downs, the Mendip Hills and the Black Mountains of Wales. There's also a fine 17th century pub to visit in the village afterwards.
