Shakerley Mere Walk
A short and easy walk around the pretty Shakerley Mere in the Goostrey area of Cheshire.
There's a nice circular footpath running around the lake for a distance of just under a mile. The site also includes some pleasant woodland and lots of water loving wildlife.
You can start your walk from the car park at the south eastern end of the site, just off the Northwich Road.
Shakerley Mere is located just a few miles from both Knutsford and Northwich. On the eastern side of the motorway there's some more trails around Rudheath Woods and Allostock.

Pubs/Cafes
The Three Greyhounds is ideally placed on the western side of the mere. The oak beamed pub dates back over 300 years and serves high quality food. There's also a lovely garden area if the weather is favourable.
Dog Walking
The woodland and lakeside trail are ideal for a dog walk so you'll probably meet other owners on a fine day. The Three Greyhounds pub mentioned above is also very dog friendly. In fact it was voted by the Sunday Telegraph as one of the UK’s top ‘Dog Friendly Pubs'. They have their very own ‘old Port barrel’ for ‘help yourself water’, plus plenty of dog bowls about the pub. The bespoke Dog Menu features Craft Dog Beer from Belgium…. by the bottle or can, bar dog nibbles, free biscuits, ‘Dog Fries’ and the chefs even cook little fresh Porky sausages for your pooch!
