Avon Cycleway
This long distance circular cycle ride explores the countryside, towns and villages surrounding Bristol.
The popular route runs for about 85 miles, visiting lakes, hills, woodland and several historic landmarks of the area. It is also known as National Cycle Route 410.
As a circular ride you can start from anywhere on the route with the one mapped below starting from the town of Clevedon on the west coast of Somerset. The route then heads to Chew Valley Lake, Saltford, Avon Valley Country Park in Keynsham, Frampton Cotterell, Yate, Thornbury and Avonmouth.
The signed route runs mostly along quiet country lanes with some pleasant traffic free sections along dismantled railway lines including the popular Bristol and Bath Railway Path on the eastern side of the route.
The eastern end skirts the Cotswolds AONB while the western end runs close to the Somerset coast at Portishead.

Pubs/Cafes
Clevedon - The Moon & Sixpence is located in a great spot on the sea front, next to the Victorian pier. They have a balcony where you can enjoy fine sea views with your meal. You can find them at 15 The Beach with a postcode of BS21 7QU for your sat navs.
Chew Valley Lake - The trail skirts the northern edge of this beautiful lake near Chew Stoke and Chew Magna. Here you can enjoy a pit stop at the Salt & Malt restaurant. (postcode BS40 8XS). It was awarded Best Fish & Chips at the Bristol Good Food Awards 2018 and also provides fine views over the water.
Keynsham - The Lock Keeper: This pub boasts a lovely large beer garden which is ideal for warm summer days. It's situated just a short walk from the train station in a great riverside location. Warmley Station - Located on the Bristol and Bath Railway path is The Warmley Waiting Room. It's located in the original waiting room of the old Warmley Railway Station. There are also outdoor seating areas which include the gardens, summerhouse and on the platform itself. They serve substantial meals and some particularly delicious home made cakes. You can find the cafe at roughly the half way point on the route at a postcode of BS30 5JB for your sat navs.
