Oban to Fort William Cycle Path

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This ride follows NCN 78 and the Caledonia Way from Oban to Fort William. It's a popular ride with several long lochside sections and wonderful views to the surrounding mountains.
Starting in Oban you first head east along quiet country lanes to Barranrioch. Here you turn north towards Kilvarie where you can enjoy a stretch along the Lusgranan Burn to Connel. In the village you could pay can see the Falls of Lora before crossing Loch Etive on the bridge to North Connel.
You continue north to Benderloch where there are fine views over Ardmucknish Bay. Soon after you pick up a road along Loch Creran to Barcaldine.
At the northern end of the loch you head west to Appin and Loch Linnhe where there are views to Shuna Island. The lochside road takes you north east to Duror and Ballachulish where you cross a bridge which bisects Loch Linnhe and Loch Leven.
You continue west to Corran where you will cross on the ferry before continuing north on the western side of Loch Linnhe. At Camusnagaul you will catch another ferry over to Fort William where the route finishes.
You can extend the ride on the next leg of the Caledonia Way on the Fort William to Fort Augustus Cycle Route.
