Loch Pityoulish
This pretty loch is located just to the east of Aviemore in the Cairngorms.
You can follow a track along the lochside and enjoy fine views over the water to the surrounding woodland. It's a very peaceful and picturesque little spot with lovely views to the Cairngorms Mountains in the distance.

Head south east and you can enjoy another lochside walk around the beautiful Loch Morlich. It's a more popular area with a 4 mile track running around the lake.
Near Kincraig there's Loch Insh which includes a watersports centre and an old lochside church.
Near Loch Insh there's also the Glen Feshie Waterfall Walk. There's a lovely trail along the River Feshie with waterfalls and wonderful views of the surrounding mountains here.
Just west of Aviemore there's the wonderful Craigellachie Nature Reserve. The reserve includes a series of lochans, fascinating plantlife and a wonderful viewpoint towards the nearby Cairn Gorm.

Heathland by Loch Pityoulish. A mix of heather broom and whins with birch and other stuff. The V notch in the far distance is the Lairig Ghru one of the major passes through the mountains of the central Highlands.
