Whittlesey Heritage Walk
This circular walk takes you to a series of historical sites in the Cambridgshire town of Whittlesey.
The ancient market town is a fascinating place for a walk with some splendid architecture, listed buildings, scheduled ancient monuments and old churches.
At the southern end of the walk there's nice views of the Briggate River.
The route links up with other trails that will take you to the nearby Lattersey Nature Reserve and King’s Dyke Nature Reserve.
You can start and finish the walk at the historic market place where there is an information board with more details.
To continue your walking in the town head north to pick up the Nene Way and enjoy a waterside walk along the River Nene.
The long distance Hereward Way also passes through the town.

The long distance path runs for over 100 miles, passing Northampton, Wellingborough, Oundle, Peterborough and Wisbech.

Pubs/Cafes
The New Crown is a Grade II listed pub dating back to the 17th century. The ancient thatched pub includes a charming interior with wooden decor and beamed ceilings. They serve good home-cooked food and real ales. Accommodation is also available if you would like to stay over. You can find them at 58 High Causeway with postcode PE7 1QA for your sat navs.

If you head east you could visit the historic market town of March where there's attractive parks, Georgian buildings and a noteworthy riverside pub dating back to the 17th century.
For cyclists National Cycle Route 63 passes through the town. The Peterborough To Whittlesey cycle route is a largely traffic free section which will take you into nearby Peterborough along the Nene River. It's suitable for walkers too.
