National Cycle Route 71
This signed Sustrans Cycle Route runs from Whitehaven to Kirby Knowle in Yorkshire.
Starting on the Cumbrian coast you head east to Penrith, passing through some beautiful Lake District scenery. You continue to Appleby-in-Westmorland before entering the Yorkshire Dales National Park. You'll pass Bedale and Northallerton before finishing at Kirby Knowle where the route links with National Cycle Route 65.
Route highlights include a lovely traffic free section along the Keswick Railway Path in the Lake District.
There is an alternative start point from Workington just north of Whitehaven.
