Hebden Bridge Canal Walk
Enjoy a waterside walk from Hebden Bridge to Sowerby Bridge along a lovely section of the Rochdale Canal. Along the way there's pretty locks, old mills and nice views of the Upper Calder Valley countryside.
It's about a 5.5 mile walk along a flat towpath so suitable for all abilties. In Sowerby Bridge you can catch a train direct to Hebden Bridge or return on foot if you prefer.
The walk starts in the pretty Calder Holmes Park near the train station and Hebden Bridge Visitor and Canal Centre. You then head east, passing the villages of Mytholmroyd and Luddenden Foot before arriving at Sowerby Bridge. Here you will find Sowerby Bridge Wharf, the terminal basin of the Calder & Hebble Navigation, and its interchange with the Rochdale Canal. There's some attractive buildings here with a nice pub, two restaurants and a coffee shop, for refreshments.
To extend your walking in the area you can try our Hebden Bridge Circular Walk which explores the area around the town on a number of waymarked footpaths.
You could also continue your waterside walking along the Calder and Hebble Navigation Canal to Brighouse. Heading west along the Rochdale Canal will take you to Todmorden with some lovely views of the River Calder.

Pubs/Cafes
In Hebden Bridge there's the excellent Rim Nam Thai Restaurant. It's located in a wonderful spot right on the canal side just a short distance from The Hebden Bridge Picture House. It's a great place to enjoy a fine meal with a lovely scenic view. You can find it at Butlers Wharf at postcode HX7 8AF. A little to the west of the town centre there's also the noteworthy Fox & Goose Inn. The pub is the first community-owned pub in West Yorkshire. The friendly place is well worth some investigation with its cosy interior with a roaring fire and an exhibition space for local artists to display their work. Outside there's a lovely hillside beer garden which is great on warmer days. You can find the pub at 7 Heptonstall Road with a postcode of HX7 6AZ for your sat navs.
