Walking highlights include the nearby Kennet and Avon Canal, the River Avon and two fine National Trust properties located in an around the village.
This walk from the village visits the National Trust's Courts Garden before heading north to visit Great Chalfield Manor. The two sites are great for a peaceful stroll in beautiful, historical surroundings.
The walk starts in the village where you can explore the beautiful Courts Garden. Here you'll find water gardens, herbaceous borders and some beautifully crafted topiary.
The route then follows footpaths north to Great Chalfield where you'll find a fine medieval manor house surrounded by lovely gardens. There's terraces, topiary houses, a gazebo and a lily pond to see here.

Head to the Old Ham Tree for some post walk refreshments. The 18th century pub is located in a nice spot close to the village green. They serve quality dishes which you can enjoy a pleasant garden area. You can find them at postcode BA14 6PY.

Head south west and you can enjoy easy waterside walks along the Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Avon in Bradford on Avon.
To the north west there's the worthy village of Monkton Farleigh where you can explore the attractive estate of the 18th century Monkton Farleigh Manor House. The circular walk also visits South Wraxall with its 15th century manor house. Just to the north west of the village you can climb to Bathford Hill and visit Brown's Folly. The 19th century tower is surrounded by a nature reserve with woodland, wildlife and countryside views.

The Courts House from the Entrance Gate. The house was built in 1720 was the home of a wealthy clothier from nearby Bradford-on-Avon, at the time a prosperous wool town. It served as the village law court where cloth weavers could settle their disputes.
