Christleton Canal Walk

3.42 miles (5.5 km)

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This pretty village sits on the Shropshire Union Canal just to the south east of the city of Chester. The settlement has been voted the best kept village in Cheshire on several occasions. The village includes a noteworthy Grade II listed mill building and two historic old halls, one dating from the early 17th century. There's also the large picturesque village pond known as Christleton Pit.
This circular walk from the village takes you along the canal on a section of the long distance Baker Way. You then return on country lanes with some nice views of the surrounding countryside. It's a particularly lovely section of the canal with old bridges and elegant moorings to see.
