This walk visits the village of Ebchester on the River Derwent in County Durham.
This circular walk from the village takes you north along the river to visit the neighboring village of Blackhall Mill and Hamsterley. You can the return to the village use the Derwent Walk, a shared cycling and walking trail running along an disused railway line.
You could follow the trail north to visit Derwent Walk Country Park near Rowlands Gill. The popular park includes a mixture of woodland, meadows and wetlands. If you continue south along the trail it will take you to Consett where you can pick up the Consett and Sunderland Railway Path.
