Edgelaw Reservoir
This pretty reservoir is located in n Midlothian near Temple in the Lammermuir Hills.
There are footpaths leading around the reservoir so you can enjoy a peaceful, scenic circular walk here. The loch is surrounded by forested areas and some attractive countryside. Just to the south you will find Rosebery Reservoir which you can reach on a country lane.
The loch is popular with anglers so you may see some people fishing on your visit.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas
Just to the south you can explore the pretty Gladhouse Reservoir and Portmore Loch in the Pentland Hills.
To the north you can pick up the Penicuik to Dalkeith Railway Walk and follow it east to the popular Dalkeith Country Park.
To the north is Roslin Glen Country Park. The pretty park includes wooded glens, the ruined Roslin Castle and views of the rushing River North Esk. On the nothern side of the park you can also visit the noteworthy Rosslyn Chapel. There's some stunning architecture at the 15th century site which includes some pleasant trails through a wooded glen to the ruins of Roslin Castle. The chapel became famous when it was featured in Dan Brown's the Da Vinci Code.
To the north east is the village of Gorebridge where you can pick up the Gorebridge Circular Walk and explore the area around the historic village. Highlights include the Gore Glen Woodland Park with walks along Gore Water and views of the Pentland Hills.
