Elslack Reservoir
This circular walk visits Elslack Reservoir in North Yorkshire near Skipton.
You can start the walk in Elslack village from the Tempest Arms where there's a good sized car park. Follow country lanes south from here and you will pass the ancient Burwen Castle Roman Fort and the old Elslack Hall. You continue south to Cooper House where you pick up a footpath heading east to visit the pretty reservoir. Here you can follow paths along the water before picking up alternative country lanes to take you back to the village and the pub. The pub dates from the 17th century and serves high quality dishes. It was named "Pub of the Year" in the 2011 Good Pub Guide.
The Pennine Way runs to the west of the reservoir. To extend the walk you could pick it up and head west to visit Thornton-in-Craven.
