Lon Gwyrfai
This shared cycling and walking route runs for just over 4 miles between Rhyd Ddu and Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park.
From the route there are some spectacular views of the Gwyrfai Valley and the surrounding mountains. It's a fairly easy ride, mostly taking place on flat surfaced paths.
The route starts from Rhyd Ddu where there is a public car park and a rail station on the on the narrow gauge Welsh Highland Railway.
From here you pick up the trail and head south past the still waters of Llyn-y-Gader before skirting the eastern edge of the expansive Beddgelert Forest.
You'll pass along the Afon Colwyn before the final section takes you along a bridle track into the popular village of Beddgelert.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas
You can extend your outing in the adjacent Beddgelert Forest. Here you'll find miles of waymarked walking and mountain bike trails. You'll find cycle hire and trail maps in Beddgelert Bikes in the village.
The route also follows a section of the Snowdonia Slate Trail, a long distance circular walk which explores the historical mining areas of the national park. The waymarked trail is a good way to extend the walk if you have time. You can see it marked with the green diamonds on the Ordnance Survey Map link above.
