Newcastle Emlyn Walks
This lovely Welsh town is located in the heart of the Teifi Valley near Carmarthen.
This walk from the town explores the historic castle ruins before heading west to Cenarth where you can visit the lovely Cenarth Falls.
The walk starts on the eastern side of the town at Castell Newydd Emlyn, a Norman castle dating back to the 13th century. Here you can explore the ancient ruins and the surrounding open space which includes pleasat trails along the Afon Teifi.
After exploring the castle you head west through the town and out into the countryside. Here you can pick up country footpaths taking you west to Cenarth. In the village you can stand on the 18th century Cenarth Bridge and view the beautiful waterfalls and look out for the leaping salmon.

The town is located quite close to the lovely Pembrokeshire Coast where you can visit Cardigan on the Teifi Estuary and pick up the epic Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The 12th century ruins of St Dogmaels Abbey can also be visited here.
To the east is neighbouring Llandysul where there's more pleasant river paths. The town is also a designated Walkers are Welcome community with well maintained local footpaths.
