Dooagh Loop Walk
This circular walk explores the area around the village of Dooagh on Achill Island in County Mayo.
The waymarked trail runs for about 4.5km with some wonderful views over the beautiful Keem Bay, the Dingle peninsula and the surrounding Achill mountains and countryside.
You can continue your walking around the island by heading east to the Valley Loop Walk. There's also the beautiful beach at the horseshoe-shaped Keem Bay and the wonderful viewpoint at Minaun Heights.

View of Dooagh and Croaghaun. The road west of Dooagh traverses Croghaun Mountain and leads to Keem Strand, offering panoramic views of Clew Bay. A detour off the Keem Road takes you to Lough Acorrymore, surrounded by scree slopes and now serving as a reservoir for the entire island. Croghaun's coastal side boasts towering cliffs, the highest on the island.
Dooagh Trail marker. Along the road from Dooagh beach to Lough Corrymore stands Corrymore House, once the residence of Captain Charles Boycott, a British land agent whose ostracism by his local community in Ireland in 1880 sparked the term "boycott" in the English language. Captain Boycott relocated to Corrymore House after his home in Keem was destroyed by fire. Renowned American artist Robert Henri also resided there for a period, having purchased the house in 1924.

Don Allum plaque, Achill Island. In the heart of Dooagh stands a monument commemorating Don Allum, the ocean rower who achieved the remarkable feat of being the first to row across the Atlantic in both directions, culminating in his arrival at Dooagh village.
Road to Corrymore by Henri. Robert Henri (1865–1929), an American artist who came to Achill regularly in the early 20th century. During his early trips to Achill he painted extensively and is reputed to have completed portraits of most of the children in Dooagh village. He bought Corrymore House on the hill above Dooagh in 1924.
