Elmley National Nature Reserve
Enjoy a tranquil walk around this beautiful Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey.
There are a number of bird hides in the reserve where you can look out for a hug variety of birdlife. Keep your eyes peeled for lapwing, redshank, whimbrel, green sandpiper and grebes.
The reserve is located on the southern side of the Isle of Sheppey at postcode ME12 3RW.

Entrance to Elmley Marshes Nature Reserve. This lane leads from Sheppey Way, near Straymarsh Cottages, through the marshes to King's Hill Farm. A car park and toilet block are in the farm. The farm and marshes are part of the RSPB Nature Reserve. The lane is also a public footpath past the farm to the seawall path on the Swale Strait.
Dyke in Elmley Marshes. This dyke is draining the marshes in King's Hill Farm. This is all part of the RSPB Nature Reserve.
Bench in the Marshes. Beside a track from King's Hill Farm towards the RSPB Nature Reserve. The bench looks over the marshes North-easterly towards Minster. Has a small metal plaque which reads 'Donated in Memory of Andrew Richard Barnes 10 October 1964 26th June 2003. Rest awhile and reflect on life'.
Rose Cottage is now a ruin, the area of the Nature Reserve beyond the gate is off limits to all but wildlife and those employed to preserve it.
