Glen Tromie Walk and Cycle
This walk explores Glen Tromie in the Scottish Highlands near Kingussie.
Much of the route follows decent tracks which are also suitable for cyclists.
You can start off from the public car park off the B970 road about 1 mile south east of Kingussie. From here you can pick up the trails heading south east into the glen.
Here you will find good trails taking you south along the River Tromie to
Loch an t-Seilich.
Walkers will encounter expansive views of the nearby hills and valleys, with the glen’s rocky outcrops and ancient stone field boundaries attesting to its long history of agricultural use and traditional land management. The natural environment around Glen Tromie supports a range of flora typical of the Scottish Highlands. In the open areas, hardy native grasses, heather, and bilberry form a resilient ground cover, while the glen’s periphery is interspersed with pockets of native woodland predominantly featuring Scots pine and birch.
To continue your walking in the area head east to visit the lovely nature reserve at Loch Insh. Also to the east is the Glen Feshie Waterfall Walk. There's a lovely trail along the River Feshie with waterfalls and wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.
