You'll follow a bridal path through the park to Lough Veagh where you can visit the historic Glenveagh Castle. The path is also suitable for cyclists.
On the way you can enjoy glorious views of the Derryveagh Mountains and the River Owenacoo Valley. At the castle you can enjoy the beautiful gardens with phots and more details below. Look out for the park's red deer too.
To continue your walking in the area you could head to the nearby Poison Glen in Dunlewey. The glen includes some beautiful scenery with a pretty stream, an old arched footbridge, spectacular mountain views and some splendid flora and fauna to see.

Courtyard, Glenveagh Castle. Glenveagh Castle, was built by Captain John George Adair between 1867 and 1873. The castle is designed in the Scottish baronial style, featuring a four-story rectangular keep surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens. It is set against a stunning natural backdrop of 165.4 square kilometers (40,873 acres) of mountains, lakes, glens, and woodlands, which also support a herd of red deer.

Within the walled garden of Glenveagh Castle, The gardens of Glenveagh Castle were created by Henry McIlhenny from Philadelphia. They form a significant part of Glenveagh National Park's charm. These gardens showcase a variety of themes, including woodland gardens, pleasure grounds, Italian and Belgian gardens, and terraces adorned with antique sculptures and terracotta pots. The gardens are harmoniously integrated into the scenic Donegal landscape, offering visitors a stunning visual experience.
Rhododendrons bloom from March to May, adding vibrant colors to the gardens, while the "Jardin potager" displays a rich assortment of flowers, vegetables, and fruits from June to September. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty while relaxing at the restaurant in the Visitor Centre or the tea rooms located within the castle.
