Titchmarsh Nature Reserve
Enjoy waterside walking in this nature reserve in Thrapston, near Kettering. There are several large lakes to stroll around and you can also follow the Nene Way along the River Nene which runs through the reserve. Large numbers of wildfowl can be seen on the water including heron, goosander, wigeon, gadwal, reed warbler and sedge warbler. Along the river Nene you can look out for butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies.
If you would like to continue your walking in the area then you could follow the Nene Way to Stanwick Lakes and Rushden Lakes for more birdlife and lovely waterside walks.

Pubs/Cafes
The Fox Inn in Thrapston is a nice place for refreshments after your walk. The friendly pub does good food and has a nice beer garden for warmer weather. You can find the pub on the High Street with a postcode of NN14 4JJ for your sat navs.
Head north to Wadenhoe and there's the 17th century King's Head. They have a particularly lovely garden area next to the river where you can watch the boats go by with your meal. You can find the pub at postcode PE8 5ST for your sat navs.
Dog Walking
The reserve makes for a nice dog walk but please keep them on leads because of the wildlife. The Fox Inn and King's Head pubs mentioned above are also dog friendly.
Further Information and Other Local Ideas
A few miles north west of the reserve you'll find Fermyn Woods. This country park has a number of good trails and is a popular spot for dog walking and butterfly spotting. You can pick up the Lyveden Way at Wadenhoe just to the north to visit the park. This fine trail will also take you to the National Trust's Lyveden Estate. Here you'll find a fine Elizabethan lodge and moated garden with a fascinating history.
Just to the south you can pick up the Ringstead Circular Walk which explores the pretty Kinewell Lake and the neighbouring villages of Woodford and Denford.
