Derrynane Loop Walk
This circular loop walk explores the area around Derrynane on the Iveragh peninsula in County Kerry.
Starting at the beach, you’ll explore its expansive sands and breathtaking Atlantic views before following a marked path leading through the coastal dunes and native woodlands.
The trail then ascends slightly to Derrynane House, the historic home of Daniel O’Connell, known as the "Liberator." Visitors can pause here to enjoy the gardens or visit the house museum.
Continuing on the loop, the route takes you toward Derrynane Abbey, a centuries-old ruin located on Abbey Island. Accessible by a tidal causeway, the abbey offers a tranquil setting with views over the bay.
You can continue your walking by heading east to pick up the Caherdaniel to Castlecove Walk along a section of the long distance Kerry Way.
