Lough Eske Walk
This walk visits the beautiful Lough Eske in County Donegal.
The route starts of at the impressive Lough Eske Castle on the western side of the lake. The 5 star hotel is a nice place to relax and enjoy an afternoon tea after the walk.
Head east from the castle and you can pick up a section of the Bluestack Way, a long distance walking trail running through the area. The trail runs along the western side of the lake and through the adjacent woodland. You'll pass Harvey's Point where there are tremendous views across the water to the surrounding hills.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas
To the west there's the popular climb to Slieve League. There's some wonderful high sea cliffs here with tremendous views over the Atlantic coast to enjoy from the summit.
To the north you could try the Muckish Railway Walk near Falcarragh. This trail takes you along the old Letterkenny to Burtonport railway line in the Derryveagh Mountains. Near here you can also pick up the Donegal Boardwalk and enjoy a fine coastal walk along the lovely Sheephaven Bay. Near here there's more nice waterside paths along Lough Salt. You can also climb to Loughsalt mountain for some fine views over the lake and surrounding area.
Head south into Leitrim and you could visit another of the area's highlights at the Glencar Waterfall. It's a beautiful area with a lake, a stream and the stunning waterfall.
Also to the south is the popular Rougey Cliff Walk in the town of Bundoran. There's glorious sea views and some interesting rock formations to see on the circular walk. Near here there's also the stunning Mullaghmore Head where you can enjoy some fine views to the historic Castle Classiebawn and Benbulben Mountain.
To the north there's the popular Dungloe River Walk with its delightful fairy woodland garden and views of Lough Dungloe.
