Roundstone Walks
This walk takes you through the pretty village of Roundstone in County Galway.
The walk offers stunning views of the Connemara landscape. Starting in the village itself, you’ll pass charming stone cottages and vibrant pubs, with the Atlantic Ocean gently lapping at the shore nearby. The town’s small harbour is a great spot for taking in views of the nearby islands, particularly Inishnee, and the rugged coastline.
From the village, you can follow a coastal path that leads you along the water's edge, offering breathtaking views of the Twelve Bens mountain range. As you walk, you'll encounter fields dotted with wildflowers, quiet beaches, and tranquil coves. The scent of saltwater and the sound of seabirds fill the air, creating a serene atmosphere.
The area also includes the nearby Errisbeg Hill, where, if you're up for a bit more of a challenge, a climb offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. On clear days, the views stretch all the way across Galway Bay. The area’s rugged beauty, combined with the peacefulness of the village, makes for a memorable and calming walk.
To continue your walking in the area you could visit the historic Ballynahinch Castle or the wildlife rich Derrigimlagh Bog.
